Ahrefs (14B-page study): 96.55% of pages get zero Google traffic — supersedes older 90.63% figure

Quote (Tim Soulo, Ahrefs):

"We studied around 14 billion webpages and found that 96.55% of them get no traffic from Google."

Confidence: Verified.

Correction to circulating older figure: Many SEO blogs still cite "90.63% of pages get no Google traffic" from Ahrefs' earlier ~1 billion-page study. The newer 14B-page result supersedes that figure. Use 96.55% (not 90.63%).

Operational implication: Most published pages never earn organic traffic. The pages that do are concentrated in a long-tail of well-maintained, structurally clean, freshness-current content. Pairs with Seer Interactive (Oct 2025): 65% of AI bot hits target content under 1 year old; 89% under 3 years (65% of AI bot hits target content under 1 year old) — most pages are dead; the live ones are recent.
