Kitchener · Waterloo
The Kitchener-Waterloo web development studio that's been at it since 1996.
Custom sites coded from scratch and hosted on hardware we own, built for businesses across Kitchener, Waterloo, and the surrounding area.
Local
A local studio, based in Waterloo Region since 1996.
Candid Creative has been building for the web from Waterloo Region since 1996 — more than 25 years of work with businesses across Kitchener, Waterloo, and the surrounding area. We're a local studio, not a remote agency and not a reseller passing your project to someone else.
That means the person you meet on the first call is the one who ends up writing the code and answering the phone when something needs fixing. And it means we already know how buyers in the area look for what you do — on Google, on the little map, and lately in the answers ChatGPT gives them.
What we build
Three kinds of work.
A working website, a working tool, and the kind of writing that makes sure people can find both.
Information platforms
Custom websites that do real work.
Every site is coded from scratch and runs on hardware we control — not a template, not a page builder, not a shared host. So it loads fast, stays up, and does the job it was actually built for.

Tools built on data only you have.
Live pricing engines, lookups, configurators — pieces wired into the numbers the business already owns, or to public records nobody else has bothered to clean up. The kind of thing the rest of the market can't easily copy.

Built so the right people can find it.
Every page is built the way a search engine actually reads one — specific, in plain text, easy to verify. So the sites the studio builds end up showing up when the right person goes looking for them.

What we've built lately.
Two recent pieces of work. Each one shows the studio's shape: a custom site coded from scratch, with a working tool wired into it.
Boucher & Jones Fuels
A working platform for a fuel distributor.
A custom site with three working tools built in — an oil matcher, a diesel reference rate that updates each week, and a postal-code coverage check. All wired to primary-source data nobody on staff has to maintain by hand.

A working site for an HR practice.
A custom site for a small HR consultancy — plain pages, written the way the people they help would actually read them, built so the practice shows up when the right owner goes looking for help with their team.

What people usually ask.
-
Do you actually work with small businesses, or is there a minimum size?
Small businesses are most of what we build for. If you run the place, know your customers by name, and want a site that does something useful for the business — you're the right fit. There's no size floor. If a job is too small to be interesting to build, we'll say so on the first call.
-
Do you host the site too, or do we need someone else for that?
We host it. Every site runs on hardware we control, not on a shared server rented by the month somewhere. So it's fast, it stays up, and there's no middleman when something needs fixing.
-
Can you fix the site we already have, or does it need to be rebuilt?
Both happen. Some sites need a rebuild. Others just need work on a handful of pages so Google can read them properly. On the first call we'll say which one yours is — and if it's already fine, we'll tell you that too.
-
How long does a new site usually take?
A few weeks for a small site. Longer for one with a tool built in — a calculator, a lookup, a place where a customer can check on their own account. We'll give you an honest timeline once we've seen what you have and what you need.
-
What if our current site is on WordPress or Squarespace?
That's fine. Some WordPress sites are in good shape and don't need to leave. Others should be moved. Squarespace sites are usually easier to move because there's less to unpick. Either way, we'll tell you what we'd actually do — not what makes us the most money.
-
Can we meet in person if we're in Kitchener or Waterloo?
Yes. We're based in Waterloo Region and have been since 1996. Meeting in person is usually the fastest way to figure out whether we're the right fit. A short call first works too — either way, no forms.
Next step
Talk to a person.
A short call, no forms, no email chain. Book a time that works for you and we'll take it from there.
