Claim: Tim Berners-Lee launched the Solid project at MIT (solid.mit.edu) to re-architect the web around user-owned data pods. The Open Data Institute took stewardship in October 2024. Inrupt (Berners-Lee's commercial arm) raised $30M Series A in December 2021. Documented pilots include the Government of Flanders and NHS Digital.
