HBA federation structure: three tiers (local → provincial → national), automatic membership at all three, bundled dues paid once to the local HBA

Claim: CHBA describes itself as "one association representing the residential construction industry and serving our members at three levels." When a firm joins a local HBA, it automatically becomes a member at the provincial and national levels. This is the same model CHBA Northern BC, CHBA Central Okanagan, WRHBA, and every other local HBA explains on its own website.

How dues flow

A member writes one cheque to the local HBA. The local remits the OHBA portion to OHBA; OHBA remits the CHBA portion to CHBA. Each tier sets its own per-member share.

Public dues schedules are NOT posted at chba.ca, ohba.ca, or wrhba.com. Prospective members are directed to contact the local HBA for a quote. See HBA membership dues: not publicly posted at CHBA, OHBA, or WRHBA — prospective members must request a quote (verified by absence).

Why this matters for Candid use

When advising a builder or renovator client on whether/how to engage with the HBA stack, the answer is always "join the local." Joining OHBA or CHBA directly is not how the federation works in practice — both tiers exist to serve member firms that came in through their local.
